For those crowded into the basement of The Delancey on Sunday night things got a bit heated when Ann Liv Young took the stage from Penny Arcade. It was a clash of generations that managed to draw gay rights pioneer and Danceteria impresario Jim Fouratt and New York Press photographer Gerry Visco into the fray. The fauxtroversy has already generated some buzz in the press. Here’s a primer:
- On Monday Michael Musto picked up on the incident, providing Visco’s viewpoint in a blog post titled, Performance Artist Causes Concussion!
- By Wednesday, Arcade, Young and Visco were all quoted in an item that ran in the New York Post’s GATECRASHER titled Hipster warfare breaks out during performance artist Ann Liv Young’s show at Delancey Lounge.
- Later that same day the L Magazine posted their own take on the situation (Fight-Picking Performance Artist Ann Liv Young Is At It Again)
referring to the Post’s coverage.
